What’s New at Sewall – January 2019
Sewall Child Development Center is pleased to launch our inaugural e-newsletter. Be sure to keep an eye out for an update from Sewall the third Thursday each month.
We wanted to take the opportunity this month to provide an update and thank our generous supporters who participated in our Teacher Support Initiative over the past several months (10/4/18-12/31/18).
Thanks to YOUR generous support, we will:
- Provide and implement a cohort training for 12 early childhood educators in January, 2019
- Enable on-site professional development class to support children’s social emotional abilities
- Continue to hire and retain the best transdisciplinary team for high staff to child ratio
Former Sewall Parent’s Letter to Sewall
This past fall, my little guy started his first day of Pre-K in public school, and he walked in that door a confident, self-assured, well-prepared little boy. For that, I say thank you. Thank you for everything you have done for us since Westin’s first day in the “Otter” classroom. After staying home with a nanny for two and a half years we weren’t sure what to expect. Sewall exceeded our expectations. Our year in “Otters” and the past year and a half in “Pandas” have been monumental. Thank you for encouraging and challenging him; for keeping him safe and observing him from afar. Thank you for making him feel important and helping him learn how to communicate what he is feeling. And thank you for ensuring that I didn’t miss any of it. But most of all, thank you for loving him as though he were your own. For that, I will be forever grateful.

More than just a scholarship, the Harvey Scholars Program empowers students by providing opportunities to expand their knowledge of the broader world. It is the Harveys’ hope that the scholars achieve professional and persona success, and make a commitment to “pay it forward” throughout their lives.In this spirit, the Harvey Scholars “paid it forward” by organizing a fundraiser for Sewall. The event culminated in the “Pumpkin Pie 5k/10k” race where they all came together as a community and raised almost $2,000, with all the contributions going directly to Sewall! |
