Play is designed into all aspects of inclusion at Sewall Child Development Center and REACH Charter Elementary School in Denver’s Congress Park
KABOOM! and Target build a playground for all to enjoy
Excitement is building among the students and staff at the headquarters of Sewall Child Development Center in Denver’s Congress Park on 9th and Fillmore. On Friday, August 26, a group of 200 volunteers in addition to staff, parents, and members of the KABOOM! Team of playground designers and builders join volunteers from local Target stores to rebuild and refresh the new playground for students of Sewall and their sister organization on campus, REACH Charter Elementary.
The playground on the east side of the campus between Fillmore and Detroit Streets will serve children from age 4 through Third Grade in Sewall and REACH programs. (The preschool playground, located on the west side of the facility is scaled for younger learners not yet ready for the big kids’ equipment.)
“Our entire community is delighted about the new playground. All children attending our 100 percent inclusive early education programs at Sewall headquarters and at REACH Charter Elementary will have a beautiful new environment weaving play into their daily curriculum,” said President and CEO of Sewall, Heidi Heissenbuttel.
Matching grant donations are also part of the KABOOM! playground project, with support welcome for the new playground construction at https://www.gofundme.com/SewallPlayground.
